How to Deep Clean a Small Apartment (Room by Room Printable)

Deep cleaning advice is often written for full-size houses, with an implicit assumption of a full weekend and multiple rooms to rotate through while others air out or dry. A small apartment doesn't have that luxury — everything is close together, and a deep clean has to fit into a much tighter footprint and timeframe.

Work top to bottom, room by room

Within each room, clean from highest surfaces down to the floor — dust and debris fall as you go, so cleaning the floor first just means redoing it. This single ordering principle saves more time in a small apartment than any product choice.

Kitchen: cabinet fronts and range hood first, then counters and appliance exteriors, then inside the microwave and fridge, floor last.

Bathroom: mirror and light fixtures first, then surfaces and fixtures, then tub or shower, floor last — ventilate while you work given how enclosed a small bathroom usually is.

Main living area: shelves and surfaces first, then upholstery (vacuum, spot clean), then floors.

Don't try to do it all in one session
